The Luncheon of the Boating Party, an oil on canvas by Pierre-Auguste Renoir was created in 1881 and embodies the characteristics associated with impressionist paintings. The work depicts a floating restaurant along the Seine waterway in France with many of Renoir’s friends and loved ones present. His future wife at the time is seen in the foreground playing with a puppy.
